Naga Oversized Diamanta Lumbar

Dhs. 455

Only 3 pieces in stock!

Like a great pair of jeans, one can never have too many throw pillows. Especially when they are as well adjusted and versatile as this guy.

Statement yet laid back, this oversized lumbar is as timeless (with a touch of vintage, of course) as they get. Handwoven with lightweight cotton - making it a favorite all year round, - its bold tribal design (native to the region of Nagaland, India) certainly makes a case for monochrome.

Decor tip? Contrast its neutral vibe by injecting some color (check out our Naga Striped Amber and Naga Terracotta cushions) to deliver a space that’s rustic yet oh so elevated.

Handwoven using age-old backstrap loom technique (with the loom wrapped around the weaver’s back), each cushion takes 1-2 days to craft. This cushion comes with a pre-filled cruelty-free down alternative insert.

Founded in 1993 to provide employment, sustenance and livelihood to the weavers of Nagaland (a state in north-eastern India) while preserving their textile legacy, Heirloom Naga started with only one weaver. Quickly growing to 50 in the same year, they now empower and gainfully employ 450 female weavers across 9 different Naga tribes.

Inspired by age-old weavings of the different Naga villages, each one known for its own distinct motifs, Jesmina, the founder of the cooperative, was determined to bring legacy textiles and traditional designs (customarily reserved for shawls and sarongs) into the modern age. While their styles are a contemporary take on heritage patterning, each of their pieces is still painstakingly woven on traditional backstrap looms - with each design taking 2 to 4 days to weave, depending on complexity of the pattern. Made of bamboo sticks and rope that wraps around the weaver’s back, these looms are compact and portable - making it possible for all of Heirloom Naga weavers to work from the comfort of their homes, in between agriculture work and household chores.

By providing door step employment, Heirloom Naga not only prevents migration (that many a weavers would undertake to seek employment) and empowers circular economy but encourages women to actively protect and embrace their traditional legacy. All while sharing ‘made in Nagaland’ with the world.

HUIPIL CUSHIONS, BATIK & IKAT CUSHIONS, XELA FLOOR POUFS, STRAPS & YOGA BAGS

Because these items are made with vintage textiles and may include leather accenting or hardware, we recommend that they are professionally dry cleaned when cleaning is required.

JASPE & JASPE BASURA

We recommend that cushions, rugs, throws and bed blankets from these collections are dry cleaned. This will ensure that colors retain their luster and fabric its shape.

TOTO & CHILE VERDE

Gently wash cushions, bed blankets and throws from these collections by hand, in cool water. Wrap the tassels in rubber bands before washing, use mild soap and line dry to maintain the piece's original shape.

BORNN CANDLES

Due to its smooth, non-porous surface made of glass, enamel is bacteria inhibiting and easy to clean. Clean with lime juice and baking soda using the smooth side of the cleaning sponge or a soft brush.

PETRIFIED WOOD

Clean with a natural or mild cleanser (avoid harsh chemicals) and a soft cloth.

RUGS

Vacuum regularly. Rotate every few months to even out wear, especially if the rug is located in a high traffic area. In case of a liquid spill, blot the spot using a white cloth to draw up the liquid; never rub a wet stain to prevent colors from bleeding. If further spot cleaning is required, entrust your rug to a professional dry cleaning service.

ART

While in storage, do not place objects on top of the artwork. Keep handling to a minimum when during the hanging process and hold your print only from the sides.  Fine art papers can scratch easily, so be very careful to avoid scraping anything across the surface of the print.

For cleaning we recommend using a clean, white, dry, soft lint-free cloth to gently wipe off dust and/or dirt. Use a white non-colored cloth will allow you to see when dust has been collected.

It is recommended that you never display giclee prints in direct sunlight and avoid high temperatures and humidity as it can cause yellowing.
