Spring Awakening Rug

The easiest way to bring a touch of spring (and mischief) into your baby’s bedroom all year-round.

Ladybugs. Butterflies. Flowers and bunnies. A fanciful depiction of reawakening of mother Earth after grueling winter months, this mini rug - handwoven from the softest wool - is as meaningful as it is functional. A slice of tactile heaven, the individual motives (hand-knotted one by one) create a sense of depth while bringing color and texture into a room in the most unexpected of ways.

Simultaneously woven and knotted entirely by hand on traditional looms in Anatolia, each rug takes weeks to weave.

Inspired by the Gabbeh weaving tradition dating back to 16th century Iran (which regularly featured simple shapes and patterns, often used for conveying stories and themes), MiniKnots seamlessly brings tougher age-old rug weaving techniques with modern design and playful narratives.

Each rug a one off, MiniKnots rugs are designed with children top of mind. From their whimsical designs, depicting pastoral scenes, nature and pastimes - inviting viewers to interpret them and let their imagination run wild. To their hand-knotted detailing, lending a sense of depth and playful texture to each piece.

Each one hand-woven on a traditional loom by female weavers in Anatolia, MiniKnots rugs are a distinctive example of a mixed technique, created especially to attract the attention of infants and children. Simultaneously woven and knotted, the background of each rug is kilim (flatwoven), while the motives and figures are carpet (knotted).

Founded in 2018 by Ulgen Semerci, it is easy to see why MiniKnots pieces are such textile works of art. Daughter of an established Istanbul based rug dealer, Ulgen herself has a background in Fine Arts and is a practicing artist. Combining her love for drawing and her knowledge of rugs, she designs each of the rugs together with the artisans, who’ve been practicing their craft for generations.

HUIPIL CUSHIONS, BATIK & IKAT CUSHIONS, NAGA CUSHIONS, STRAPS & YOGA BAGS

Because these items are made with vintage textiles and may include leather accenting or hardware, we recommend that they are professionally dry cleaned when cleaning is required.

JASPE & JASPE BASURA

We recommend that cushions, rugs, throws and bed blankets from these collections are dry cleaned. This will ensure that colors retain their luster and fabric its shape.

TOTO & CHILE VERDE

Gently wash cushions, bed blankets and throws from these collections by hand, in cool water. Wrap the tassels in rubber bands before washing, use mild soap and line dry to maintain the piece's original shape.

BORNN CANDLES

Due to its smooth, non-porous surface made of glass, enamel is bacteria inhibiting and easy to clean. Clean with lime juice and baking soda using the smooth side of the cleaning sponge or a soft brush.

TENSIRA RANGE

We recommend hand-washing these fabrics with mild soap. For tie & dye pieces, please wash them at 30°C and striped pieces at 40°C and lay flat to dry. Dry cleaning is recommended for kapok-filled cushion inserts.

PETRIFIED WOOD

Clean with a natural or mild cleanser (avoid harsh chemicals) and a soft cloth.

RUGS

Vacuum regularly. Rotate every few months to even out wear, especially if the rug is located in a high traffic area. In case of a liquid spill, blot the spot using a white cloth to draw up the liquid; never rub a wet stain to prevent colors from bleeding. If further spot cleaning is required, entrust your rug to a professional dry cleaning service.

ART

While in storage, do not place objects on top of the artwork. Keep handling to a minimum when during the hanging process and hold your print only from the sides.  Fine art papers can scratch easily, so be very careful to avoid scraping anything across the surface of the print.

For cleaning we recommend using a clean, white, dry, soft lint-free cloth to gently wipe off dust and/or dirt. Use a white non-colored cloth will allow you to see when dust has been collected.

It is recommended that you never display giclee prints in direct sunlight and avoid high temperatures and humidity as it can cause yellowing.
