Chile Verde Runner Rug
Most certainly a contender for our favorite piece in the Guatemalan rug collection! Inspired by an indigenous Mayan weaving style, this cotton-wool runner is the easiest way to elevate your space. And its short pile and muted colorway make it well suited for the busiest of walkways.
Handwoven entirely by hand on a foot loom, each rug takes 7 to 10 days to complete.
Rug pad recommended to better secure the rug in place.
As with the rest of our Chile Verde pieces, this rug was inspired by one of the traditional geometric weaving styles native to the region of San Martin Sacatepequez (popularly known as San Martin Chile Verde, named so after the abundance of green chile peppers grown there). There, indigenous Mayan, Mam people have woven their own clothing by loom for generations.
Crafted with the finest Guatemalan wool high up in the mountains of Momostenango, this rug is handwoven by the talented young men of Jun Batz. A collective working to preserve the Guatemalan weaving tradition and empower the Momostenango economy.
Each rug starts off with natural wool, which is then carded, spun into yarns and dyed using plant-based (think roots, berries, leaves) colors. Once the yarns are ready, the artisans weave the rugs entirely with their hands - picking up and tying each part of the design - on traditional foot-pedal looms. The completed rugs are then washed and hulled in the hot springs to achieve that 'oh my, that's soft' texture.

HUIPIL CUSHIONS, BATIK & IKAT CUSHIONS, XELA FLOOR POUFS, STRAPS & YOGA BAGS
Because these items are made with vintage textiles and may include leather accenting or hardware, we recommend that they are professionally dry cleaned when cleaning is required.
JASPE & JASPE BASURA
We recommend that cushions, rugs, throws and bed blankets from these collections are dry cleaned. This will ensure that colors retain their luster and fabric its shape.
TOTO & CHILE VERDE
Gently wash cushions, bed blankets and throws from these collections by hand, in cool water. Wrap the tassels in rubber bands before washing, use mild soap and line dry to maintain the piece's original shape.
Clean with a natural or mild cleanser (avoid harsh chemicals) and a soft cloth.
Vacuum regularly. Rotate every few months to even out wear, especially if the rug is located in a high traffic area. In case of a liquid spill, blot the spot using a white cloth to draw up the liquid; never rub a wet stain to prevent colors from bleeding. If further spot cleaning is required, entrust your rug to a professional dry cleaning service.
